He Probably Should Have Traded Halladay

After countless mistakes, topped off but his ridiculous asking price for Roy Halladay which kept from making a trade He probably had to, J.P. Ricciardi has been fired as the GM of the Blue Jays.

“This was a tough decision and a difficult one for me personally as I have enjoyed J.P.’s friendship and his perspective on the game,” said Paul Beeston, acting President, and CEO. “J.P. has put an incredible amount of effort into improving the team and he has brought along a number of great young players. However, I feel that it is time for a change and accordingly we have decided to move on.”

Besides not trading Halladay, the B.J. Ryan signing, giving Vernon Wells way too much money, signing and then giving away Alex Rios, are just some of the other brain farts on Riccardi's résumé.

Assistant GM Alexander Anthopoulos was named as Ricciardi’s replacement.

You're right. If he had gotten a couple of nice prospects in return for Halladay he could have kept his job. I wonder if he feels that way. Obviously he probably felt like he was doing the right thing at the time. Or he thought he had more time.

Yea that's very likely that he felt that way. I wonder if the owners forced him to have such a high asking price for Halladay, because if so, they put him in a terrible spot. If he went about that trade on his own and created his own high demands, then he deserved to get canned.
