Yanks Eying Bench Help

From Marc Carig:
The Yankees have expressed interest in trading for the Orioles' Ty Wigginton, according to a baseball official with knowledge of the situation.

...

Earlier in the day, Yankees general manager Brian Cashman said that adding depth to his team's bench is a primary goal before the non-waiver trade deadline on July 31, though he did not speak specifically of any other players. Nor did he say whether he preferred to target a left-handed or right-handed bat.

"The bench is the area of priority as of right now," Cashman said. "That doesn't mean we're not open to anything else. But if you ask me what's the priority? What's the area of weakness? It's the bench."

Domenic already covered some other potential trade targets to help the bench, so I won't get into that now. But what I can't figure out is why Cashman said nothing about the bullpen.
