Organizational Meeting Update: Yanks Talk Lee, Crawford, Benoit

From Ronald Blum:
The Yankees have completed two days of meetings and are prepared to pursue left-hander Cliff Lee, the top available pitcher on the free-agent market.

In the team’s first offseason following the death of owner George Steinbrenner, the Yankees said their top priorities are re-signing Derek Jeter, Mariano Rivera and Andy Pettitte, who all became free agents Tuesday.

The Yankees’ No. 1 priority from outside the organization is Lee, an official familiar with the meetings said, speaking on condition of anonymity because no announcements were made.

Tampa Bay left fielder Carl Crawford and Rays setup man Joaquin Benoit are among other free agents the Yankees discussed.
Lee is a must if you ask me. For the Yankees to be a real contender next year they're going to need another top of the rotation arm and Lee is exactly that. Benoit would also be a great addition, but coming off the year he had you know he's going to be asking for a ton of money, especially for a setup guy.

As for Crawford, he's a great great player, I just don't know where he fits on this roster. Unless the Yankees trade Nick Swisher or Brett Gardner--which could happen--I don't think there's a spot for him.
