Video of the Girardi Ejection

Good to see a some fire Joe, well done.

Here are some quotes from Jeter and Giambi:

“It was funny,” Jeter said. "I enjoyed it. I was hoping he would kick it all the way to the dugout like Piniella. ... Girardi wants to win. He cares a lot. Just because some people may not have seen it, I know he has that in him."

"Joe got fired up," Giambi said, "and I guess that got us fired up.

"It was good. Maybe that's the little spark that we need to get us going."

That was one of the dumbest things I've ever seen in a baseball game. Girardi was obviously putting on a show, and doing a bad job in the process. Made me really miss Joe Torre.

It's been a long time coming. The team needed Joe to show a little emotion and provide a spark. I wouldn't make it a regular thing, but every once in a while a manager needs to blow his top at the umpire. Good job Joe.

The only thing I saw wrong with what Joe did was that he didn't come out with his hat on sideways.

Ken Singleton nailed it though. It's not seen on this video clip but Singleton pointed out that the ump didn't call it until the catcher said something. Watch it again and closely watch the catcher and the ump.

I see no other explanation than Joe was reading the comments of this blog.

Jeff,

I wouldn't make it a regular thing either, but he needed to give them a jolt.

Mike,

You're right, I think that was part of the reason he got so upset.

Brady,

If that were true it would be the coolest thing in the world, too bad it probably isn't.

How in the world could that have been one of the dumbest things you have ever seen Girardi do? This is the kind of thing that the Yankees have needed for years. I love Joe Torre to death, but he was never the man to standup for his players and argue for them. Girardi definitely wasn't right by means of the official call, but the umpire shouldn't have listened to the catcher. Girardi was fed up with how it was handled, but also wanted to fire up this team. The Yankees were at "rock bottom", ever since his ejection they are 3-0. He fired up the team, Cano got the winning hit, Giambi is starting to hit, the YANKEES have scored 25 runs in the last 2 games. We might look back at this game 4 months from now and say, "That was the turning point of the season".
