New Stadium Inaugural Season Patch

I believe this will be the patch that will appear
on the Yankees uniforms next season.

It should say Yankee Stadium 3 or have III in the background or something like that.

looks good

Considering very few people consider this to be the third stadium, that would be dumb..

The yankees, and many yankee fans, consider the original stadium and the post 1974 stadium one in the same.

They should put a picture of Torre and Roger in the background, so they don't feel left out.

Nice!

Now when will they offer season ticket plans to those of us who never had them but now want them?

I hate it!

I hate "things" on the uniform! Patches, arm bands...especially the arm bands!

Leave the uniform alone!

I like it, where did you get the picture? I still think the old stadium should be left up as a memorial/museum. If its about finances, I'm sure they can make plenty of money doing tours/concerts/exhibitions at the old place. Why not let the AAA team play there.

Classy.

I found it on baseball-fever.com... they're also selling caps and t-shirts on Yankees.com.

But some historians and whatnot consider it the 3rd version of the stadium. I myself though think of the old Stadium(s) as one for the most part, while keepning in mind the renovation and that there were two stages, or phases of the Stadium. I think this argument is exactly why they chose to just put "Yankee Stadium" on the patch.

The patch is alright, looks pretty nice. I just hate the sight of that frieze atthe new stadium. It just doesn't compare in any way to the original frieze, or even the second rendition at the current (well I guess former) Stadium. It just pales in comparison to the former frieze. It lacks the detail and craftsmanship, look closely at pictures of the frieze from the new stadium (theres a ton of good shots in the stadium updite page on this site) and good, close up shots of the old friezes. The new one just looks like a white picket fence with arches.

I like any frieze so long as it's in place where it should be--in the upper deck.

I like it but mostly I just hope it's lucky. I want a championship and if it takes a patch, so be it!

I cant agree more with swill, the new freeze looks like a plastic ikea knock off of the original. The detail of the original freeze reflected real artistry. Why HOK cranks out such schlock is beyond me, it can't be that much more expensive to cast a few more folds into the steel. Also, they actually changed some of the details destroying the elegant relationships of the original design - note the now square holes above the window arches. the original freeze has circular holes echoing the shape of the window arches.

The frieze of the original stadium was made of copper which eventually turned green. They then painted the frieze white and the seats blue around 1966. The seats of the original stadium were green. It was very classy looking. The blue seats somehow took away from the classic look and was incorporated into the new renovated stadium in 1976. The new stadium looks great on the outside but the inside would have been better with green seats in my opinion.
