12/12 Winter Ball Report

Sorry I haven't been able to post one of these this week, a lot of other things going on with the winter meetings. Here's an update of all that's happened so far this week in winter ball:

Dominican League:

- Robinson Cano (Estrellas) went 2-for-5 with a HR, 2 RBI, and a run scored. He's now hitting .300/.375/.480 with a homer and 9 RBI for Estrellas.

- Melky Cabrera (Aguilas) went 2-for-4 with a double, a walk, a stolen base and two runs scored. He's hitting .323 in the Dominican.

- Wilkins Arias (Aguilas) pitched 0.2 IP and retired the only two batters he faced.

Mexican League:

- Ramiro Pena (Culiacan) went 2-for-4 on Wednesday. Yesterday he went 1-for-5 with a run scored. He's now hitting .256 in winter ball.

Puerto Rican League:

- Jonathan Albaladejo (Mayaguez) pitched a scoreless inning on Tuesday. He allowed one hit and struck out one, his ERA remains at 0.00.

Venezuelan League:

- Edwar Gonzalez (Lara) went 0-for-5 on Wednesday.

- Edgar Soto (Zulia) pitched 0.2 IP on Wednesday, he allowed one run on one hit and a walk.

Yesterday was the Rule 5 draft, six Yankees were taken. SS Reegie Corona, RHP Ivan Nova, RHP Jason Jones, and RHP Zach Kroenke in the MLB phase, and RHP Josue Salinas and LHP Andres Santos in the triple-A phase.

And on Monday the Yankees signed four minor leaguers. Outfielder Justin Leone, RHP Jose Valdez, catcher Ben Blumenthal, and third baseman Carlos Mendoza.For more info check out Chad Jennings blog.

Also, Bernie Williams wants to play for Puerto Rico in the WBC. He will go to Puerto Rico next week to play for Gigantes de Carolina.

Dominican League: Robinson Cano is playing for Estrellas de Oriente. Melky Cabrera and Wilkins Arias are playing for Aguilas Cibaenas. And Oneli Perez and Amaury Sanit are playing for Tigres del Licey.

Puerto Rican League: Ian Kennedy and Jonathan Albaladejo are on Indios de Mayaguez.

Mexican League: Justin Christian is playing for Caneros de los Mochis. Ramiro Pena is playing for Tomateros de Culiacan. And Walter Ibarra is on Naranjeros de Hermosillo.

Venezuelan League: Francisco Cervelli, Edwar Gonzalez and Carlos Mendoza are playing for Cardenales de Lara. And Edgar Soto is on Aguilas del Zulia.
