- Xavier Nady
was supposed to start, but was scratched for precautionary reasons after being hit on the elbow by a pitch in yesterday's game.

- These players will be added to the roster for the games against the Cubs: Doug Bernier
Kevin Cash, Shelley Duncan, Dan Giese, Steven Jackson, Justin Leone, Todd Linden, and John Rodriguez.

- Joe Girard
i said that Jeter would continue to bat in the leadoff spot once the season started.

- Brett Gardner
took home the James P. Dawson Award on Sunday, which goes to the best rookie in camp.

-
According to the AP, Joba Chamberlain has pleaded guilty to his Nebraska DUI charge and has been given probation. Here's more:

After a plea deal, prosecutors dropped the second charge of driving with an open alcohol container. Chamberlain, who played for Nebraska in college, was pulled over Oct. 18 by police on the outskirts of Lincoln. His court date had been rescheduled four times, most recently from Tuesday to today.

He flew to Nebraska for his hearing in Lincoln after pitching 5 1-3 innings in the Yankees' 6-3 win over Cincinnati on Tuesday during a spring training game in Florida.

- Also in the news this morning was this article about Alex Rodriguez. According to the NY Post A-Rod wants to return sooner than the May 15th date that the Yankees have set for him. Here's a quote from Brian Cashman, "He's hoping it's sooner, and that would be nice. ... They've done MRIs ... and it all comes up as extremely encouraging from the doctor's perspective, which means it's extremely encouraging for us. But it's always that way. You're told it's all good, you hope it's going to be good, but even when he comes back you're going to be wondering, no matter what."

Nady's elbow must be barking, otherwise there is your opening day starting lieup.

They're keeping him out of the lineup as a precaution. He should be fine.

Will Jeter still have Sheppard announce his name from now on?

I can't see why he wouldn't. I couldn't imagine going to a game and not hearing Sheppard announce him name.

"Now batting, number 2... Derek... Jeter... Shortstop... Number 2."

Yes, I believe Jeter has said he wants that to be his into for the rest of his career.
