Are Trost and Levine on Their Way Out?

If this is true this is the best news in Yankeeland in a long time. Accroding to ESPN Radio the Yankees may be ready to part ways with weasels Lonn Trost and Randy Levine (hat tip to New Stadium Insider):

A major league executive tells 1050 that he would not be surprised if the Yankees' stadium debacle costs someone their job.

COO Lonn Trost has been out front on the new Stadium. Trost reports to the team president Randy Levine. When something goes as wrong as the new stadium has, there is usually fallout. The exec says one or both could lose their jobs over it.
I said a few days ago that these two were helping the Yankees lose their soul as an organization and I think it would be in the best interest of the franchise to get rid of both of them. Apparently someone in the organization might feel the same way - hopefully it's enough people to get both of them out of here.

My sources tell me Levine is safe.

What exactly is the yankee stadium debacle?

The only problem with the stadium is some of the prices. Drop the prices and fill up the stadium easy solution. It is a great stadium. Also the batting practice rules were stupid, I'm glad they got rid of them.

It's beyond prices.
-The Grandstand isn't steep enough so home plate (and the TV net) is blocked by people sitting in front of you.
-They kept the same post-9/11 security rules (like no backpacks) even though this stadium was designed AFTER 9/11.
-The net is larger than similar ones at most stadiums, blocking the view not only on TV, but in the Grandstand. That, combined with so little foul room behind home plate makes it a frustrating game to watch.

If the net is the biggest complaint I'm thinking Trost and Levine are safe... I bet Levine wishes he could still blame this on Torre.

The little room behind the homeplate is great. CC said he loved that part of the new stadium.

You cant change the factors of the park that need to be changed. The fans need to closer to the field, there should have been more seats, and there should have been a similar overhang in both right and left fields. Even redsox players said they felt more comfortable in the new park. Bad news. Its times like these that I pine for big George Stein back

If you don't think there are mistakes in the design of this stadium then you have never been there or spent any time there. Unless you sit in the rich areas, the stadium is not better than the Real Stadium that will be torn down soon. I sit in the granstand behind home plate (season plan) and unless people sit still, you can't see the whole field. You can't see over the fan in front of you. There are so many things wron about this stadium its become a joke. I don't know what the announced attendance was tonight (they did not announce it again) but there were alot of empty seats and the Audi Club didn't look full either.

As for Levine and Trost, I only hope it is true. The Steinbrenners better wake up or they will lose a generation of fans
with their procing and another generation of fan with their elitist attitude.

i completely agree with you rpb

The biggest disappointment last night was that Donald Trump didn't tell Lonn Trost "You are FIRED" in front of all Yankees fans.

Raven: lol That would have been worth the price of the moat seats.

1. Too many home runs. Lonn Trost failing to admit it's a serious problem. And him not recognizing the blatant fact the ball travels tremendously to right field. The Yankees should be getting free air miles for how far the ball flies out of that park.

I'm guessing it's Hank and Hal seeing their name tarnished as their family's new park is under major scrutiny. If Trost and Levine both lose their jobs I tip my hat to Hank and Hal for making necessary changes.

Another issue with the home runs in right is that supposedly the wall is not nearly as deep in the gap.

Here's a couple quotes from over at New Stadium Insider:

"I practically lived in old Yankee Stadium, that's why, when the architect said, 'We're going to move right field in a foot,' I said, 'Oh, no, you're not.' To Yankee fans, those distances are sacred."

- Lonn Trost, July 13, 2008Most of right field is shorter in the new park, by as much as 9 feet, but more typically by 4-5 feet

What amazes me, Greg, is how tone-deaf the Yankee front office is on everything. From the prices, to the batting practice, to the obstructed view seats, they act so arrogant and defensive on everything that even when they finally do the right thing, they still have lost the PR war.
