With the lineup the Yankees have they're not going to need that deep of a bench in a 5-game series, and you can always use an extra arm in the pen.
As for Joba it looks like he's going to be a combination of middle reliever/long man, which is basically the role Alfredo Aceves had all season. This adds significant depth to the Yankees pen and should make the already strong bridge to Mariano even stronger.
