The Yankees Are Out of the Santana Sweepstakes... Again

From ESPN via Scott Proctor's Arm:
For the second time this offseason, the Yankees have pulled their Phil Hughes-centered trade offer for Johan Santana off the table.

The Yankees, then, will not restart trade talks with the Twins unless Hank Steinbrenner has another change of heart, a baseball official with knowledge of the talks told 1050 ESPN Radio's Andrew Marchand.

The Yankees' desire Monday to turn their attention away from the two-time Cy Young winner leaves Boston and the New York Mets as Minnesota's trade partners, the official told Marchand.

Is this it?!? Is this tortuous saga finally over, or is this just more posturing from Hank and Co? How many more times do we really have to hear that the Yankees are out of this, before they actually are? Can this be the end? Please.

At the very least, this better mean that Phil Hughes is off the table for good. Don't go back on your word again Hank!

Between the Knicks being an absolute disgrace, and these stories (Santana, steroids) I don’t want to hear about anymore that just won’t seem to go away, I think this off-season is slowly destroying my brain. Thank God we’re now only a month away from pitchers and catcher reporting. Oh, and thank God for the New York Football Giants… Go Giants!!!
