Yanks Give Betemit One-Year Extension, 3 Others Up For Arbitration

According to Peter Abraham, the Yankees avoided arbitration with Wilson Betemit today, giving him a $1.65 million one-year extension. This leaves Chien-Ming Wang, Robinson Cano, and Brian Bruney as the remaining Yankees who are up for arbitration. This is the day that the team and players Today is the day the teams and agents exchange salary numbers, with the hearings beginning on Feb. 1. The Yankees would be wise if they locked up Wang and Cano. And by the looks of the raise Betemit got, Wang and Cano are going to be two very wealthy men very soon.
