Bedard Trade Finally Completed

This deal had been close to being done for couple weeks and on Friday the deal was finally completed. Erik Bedard goes to the Mariners, and in return the Orioles get Seattle's top outfielder prospect Adam Jones, left-handed reliever George Sherrill, 19-year-old Chris Tillman who was Seattle's minor league pitcher of the year in 2007, 20-year-old Tony Butler, considered one of the franchise's top young arms, and 23-year-old right-hander Kam Mickolio.

This package looks better than the one the Twins received from the Mets for Santana, so Bill Smith looks even worse today than he did a week ago.

I think this deal hurts the Yankees. The Mariners should now be a major contender in the AL West, and Wild Card races.

As you can tell from my nickname, I'm a Twins fan, I can't believe the O's were able to get a better package for Bedard than we could for Johan. I know Johan costs a ton of money, but Bedard isn't close to the pitcher Santana is. Unreal... I hope Bill Smith gets fired tomorrow.
