Jayson Stark is reporting that Yankees, A's, Rangers, Giants and Padres all have "mild interest" in former Royal Mike Sweeney. Last year in 74 games he hit .260 with 7 HR, and 38 RBI. Sweeney has play just 134 games that past two seasons due to injuries.
I highly doubt the Yankees will sign him, with his injury problems he's basically turned into a full-time DH. In the last three seasons he's only played 55 games at first. Although it does look like Cashman's plan for 1B/DH is to sign as many people as possible and hope something works out. If they do sign him you can add his name to the growing list of first base candidates which already includes, Jason Giambi, Shelley Duncan, Wilson Betemit, Jason Lane, Morgan Ensberg, and Juan Miranda.

I can't figure out why they're not giving Mientkiewicz a shot. He's one of the best defensive first baseman available.
He also has back problems they need to bring back Mientkiewicz!
