4/25 Minor League Report

The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees edged the Buffalo Bisons (Indians) by a 2-1 score to raise their season record to 16-7. They also gained a game over 2nd place Syracuse and now lead by 2 games.

PITCHING: Steven White got the start and pitched a very good game. He went 6 innings allowing just 1 run in the 5th inning on a solo homer. He gave up 4 hits, 7 strikeouts and 3 walks. White's ERA is now at 3.58. He threw 99 pitches, 58 for strikes. He left with the scored tied 1-1.

Sean Henn
making a rehab appearance, picked up the win after blowing leads his previous 2 games. Henn pitched a scoreless 7th with 1 strikeout for his 1st win of the year. ... Scott Strickland came on to start the 8th and gave up a single and walk before being relieved by Heath Phillips with 2 out and runners on 1st & 2nd. Phillips hit a batter to load the bases but got a strikeout to get out of the jam. ... Jose Veras pitched a scoreless 9th giving up a single and walk and adding 2 strikeouts. Veras picked up his 7th save in 7 tries.

OFFENSE: The Yankees took a 1-0 lead in the 3rd when Brett Gardner walked and scored from 1st base on a Juan Miranda RBI double. ... In the 7th inning, Cody Ransom doubled and scored on a Nick Green RBI double to give SWB the winning run.

Cody Ransom had 2 doubles and single. ... Juan Miranda RBI double and single. ... Nick Green RBI double. ... Greg Porter, Eric Duncan and Brett Gardner each added a single. Gardner's was a bunt single.

NOTES: Jonathan Albedejo and Chris Britton were called up to NY. Shelly Duncan did not play in this game and should be joining NY. ... SWB plays a 2 game set at 2nd place Syracuse over the weekend. Darrell Rasner 3-0, 0.74 era starts Saturday, with Jeff Marquez 1-3 going on Sunday.
