In today's New York Post, there were two articles from the past:
Cheers & Tears For A Legend, written by Jimmy Cannon about Babe Ruth Day at Yankee Stadium from Sunday, April 27, 1947.
And It All Started With A Bang, written by Robert F. Kelley which appeared in the April 18, 1923 New York Evening Post, about the first game at the then brand new Yankee Stadium.
They really don't make sports writers like they used to. Though, Mike Vaccaro's article about The Stadium's nickname, also from today's Post, is very good.
The Post is also counting down the top 25 moments at Yankee Stadium. Today was moment No. 25; Game 7 of the 1926 World Series, a game that ended with Babe Ruth getting thrown out trying to steal 2nd base in a one-run game. (Could you imagine if A-Rod did that?)
