4/22 Minor League Report

The SWB Yanks were defeated by Buffalo (Indians) by a score of 4-2. The loss makes their record 13-7 on the season. It also drops them into a tie with Syracuse who's won 8 straight games. SWB visits Syracuse over the weekend for a 2 game set.

PITCHING: Jeff Marquez made his 4th start of the year. In his first 3 he went 14.2 innings allowing 16 runs with a 9.82 ERA. Marquez made a huge improvement in this game going 5 innings and allowing 2 runs on 4 hits, 3 K and 1 walk. ... A run scored in the 3rd on a double, sac bunt and RBI single. ... In the 5th inning he gave up a solo homer. He left the game trailing 2-1 and took the loss. His record is now at 1-3 with an 8.64 ERA. Marquez threw 64 pitches, 36 for strikes. 7 groundouts and 5 flyouts.

Jonathan Albadejo pitched a scoreless 7th. In the 8th he gave up a run on a solo homer to make the score 3-1 Buffalo. ... Scott Patterson pitched the 9th giving up 1 run on a single, stolen base and rbi double. Patterson's ERA is at 5.19. ... Edwar Ramirez pitched a perfect 9th.

OFFENSE: SWB jumped on top in the 1st inning on a Nick Green solo homer. ... They scored their 2nd and final run when they loaded the bases in the 7th on 3 walks to Brett Gardner, Nick Green & Juan Miranda. Shelly Duncan drove the run in with a sac fly. That made the score Buffalo 3-2 at the time.

NOTES: Juan Miranda had 2 singles and 2 walks extending his team high hit streak to 8 games. ... Shelly Duncan was 0-4, with an RBI a 3 strikeouts, he's now batting .271. ... Brett Gardner was 0-4 with a walk and is now batting .333. ... Kei Igawa gets the start Wednesday with Steven White pitching Thursday.
