The Post even called the report "EXCLUSIVE," this happened last August, and I'm almost certain I read about it then, but seriously, if something is this stupid, I think removing the "exclusive" tag would be wise.
The new Yankee Stadium may be cursed!
A devilish Boston fan working on a concrete crew at the $1.3 billion stadium covertly buried a Red Sox T-shirt under what will become the visiting team's locker room to jinx the Yanks, two construction workers told The Post yesterday.
How devilish... OH NO, he buried a SHIRT, what on earth are we going to do?!?
"In August, a Red Sox T-shirt was poured in a slab in the visitor's clubhouse. It's the curse of the Yankees," one worker said. "Nobody knows about it. It's in the floors, it's buried."
The workers say they now fear that they unwittingly helped hex their beloved Bronx Bombers.
"I don't want to be responsible for sinking the franchise," said a second worker, who witnessed the sabotage. "I respect the stadium."
If a t-shirt sinks the Yankees franchise I will stop rooting for the team. I may stop watching baseball all together. This is the 21st century, right? Why do people still believe in curses? Maybe if a Red Sox fan had died on the grounds of the new stadium, but a t-shirt? Come on.
The rest of the article is full of morons talking about curses that don't exist, and never have.
Some guy even suggested that the Yankees were going to dig up the visitors clubhouse to retrieve the shirt. Yes idiot, the Yankees are going to waste millions of dollars for a t-shirt. I'm sure the guy was joking, but he should be smacked just for saying it.
If you feel like reading the rest go here. But I must warn you of the extremely high level of stupidity within the article.
UPDATE 3:45 PM - Turns out this exclusive piece of reporting from the Post was nothing but bullshit - whatta shock!
The Yankees issues this statement earlier today: “We noticed that the NY Post wrote a fun and interesting story about a t-shirt today — but it never happened. Yankee fans know that burying something in concrete in the basement is never a good thing. Memo to the Post: You’re 10 days late for April Fool’s Day.”
The integrity of the NY Post remains unmatched.
Another Update 4/12 @ 2:45 - this photo appeared in today's NY Post:
It shows the jersey being buried, so maybe the guy wasn't lying. Regardless, I don't see how a rotting Red Sox jersey is going to "curse" anyone. The guy also claimed that it was a David Ortiz jersey that he buried, so maybe he cursed the wrong team and that's why Ortiz is only hitting .077.
