Yanks Sign Chris Stewart

Chad Jennings (hat tip to River Ave. Blues) is reporting that the Yankees signed 26 year old catcher Chris Stewart to a minor league deal.

Stewart was once a fairly well regarded catching prospect in the White Sox system and he made his major league debut with Chicago in 2006. Last year he split time between the big leagues and Triple-A with Texas.

Stewart has been assigned to AAA Scranton/Wlikes-Barre, and to make room catcher Jason Brown has been assigned to the Gulf Coast League.
