Yanks vs. Sox Series Preview

After the Yankees dropped two out of three to the Sox at Fenway last weekend the two teams meet again for a quick 2-game series at The Stadium.

Both teams are come into the series following 2-game series sweeps, the Yanks taking two from the Rays in Tampa, and the Sox sweeping Cleveland at Jacobs Progressive Field.

The Red Sox are 9-6 and lead the AL East and the Yankees are 8-7, and currently in 4th place, but only one game behind Boston.

The weather reports for the next two days look very good, with temperatures in the mid 50's at game time and clear skys.

Yankees - Johnny Damon:
When Damon hits the Yankees score, he's the guy that gets the Yankees offense going. In his career vs. the Red Sox he's hit .305 with 9 HR, and 49 RBI in 98 games.

Red Sox - David Ortiz: After starting the year 3-for-43 (.070) Ortiz has gone 3-for-10 since facing the Yankees last weekend. Ortiz, like Manny Ramirez is a Yankee-killer, lifetime against the Yanks he's hit .312 with 24 HR and 85 RBI in 109 games, and at Yankee Stadium he's even better, hitting .320 with 16 HR and 34 RBI is 51 games.

INJURY REPORT

Yankees:
- Jorge Posada has a shoulder strain and will probably be limited to a DH role.
- Wilson Betemit is on the 15-day DL with a bad case of pink eye.
- Joba Chamberlain will remain on the bereavment list until at least Friday so he will miss both games of this series.

Red Sox:

Mike Lowell is on the 15-day disabled list with a sprained left thumb.
- Alex Cora is day-to-day with an arm injury.
