W: T. Taubenheim (3-5, 5.67); L: D. Giese (2-2, 1.13)
HR: None.
PITCHING: Dan Giese started for SWB and pitched a decent game, in 7 innings he allowed just 3 runs, none of which were earned, 4 hits, walked 2 and struck out 8. He threw 94 pitches, 66 of them for strikes. All three runs came in the 4th inning - former Yank Kevin Thompson doubled, and then Steve Pearce reached on an error, then following a walk to Neil Walker, Matt Kata tripled in all three runs. HR: None.
David Robertson pitched the final inning and did not pitch well. He allowed a hit, 2 walks, and 2 unearned runs.
OFFENSE: Not much offense for the SWB Yanks tonight. Their lone run came top of the first inning when Brett Gardner led off with a walk. Nick Green then sacrificed him over to 2nd, and then Jason Lane drove Gardner home with a RBI single. ... JD Closser was the only Yankee who had more than one hit, and Greg Porter and Justin Christian each chipped in with a single each.
NOTES: Alberto Gonzalez will be called up to join the Yankees tomorrow in Detroit. He will be replacing the injured Wilson Betemit.
