5/9 Minor League Report

The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees fought back from a 5-1 deficit at Indianapolis for a 6-5 win. The win puts the 1st place Yankees 4 -1/2 games ahead of Syracuse with a 26-10 record.

PITCHING: The Yankees went with a bullpen by committee to replace Kei Igawa for this game. Heath Phillips got the start and cruised thru the first 4 batters. He then lost the strikezone, giving up 3 runs on 4 walks and 2 singles to give Indy a 3-0 lead after 2 innings. ... In the 3rd Phillips gave up a solo homer to former Yankee Craig Wilson to give Indy a 4-0 lead. ... Steven Jackson got the final out of the 3rd and pitched a perfect 4th inning. ... Jackson gave up a run in the 5th on a walk, single and rbi sac fly to make the score 5-1 Indianapolis. ... Jackson pitched a perfect 6th. ... Bo Hall, just called up from AA Trenton pitched scoreless 7th & 8th innings allowing 1 walk. Hall got the win (1-0). ... Billy Traber relieved Hall in the 8th after a walk and got the only batter he faced on a groundout. ... Scott Patterson came on to get the final out of the 8th and pitched a perfect 9th inning to pick up his first save of the year.

OFFENSE: SWB picked up its first run of the game in the 3rd when Matt Carson singled, Chris Stewart reached on an error, and Alberto Gonzalez got the rbi single. That made the score 3-1 in favor of Indy at the time. ... The Yanks scored 3 runs in the 7th when Brett Gardner walked, followed by 2 rbi doubles by Jason Lane and Cody Ransom to make the score Indy 5-4. ... SWB took the lead in the 8th. Brett Gardner walked, stole 2nd & 3rd bases. Alberto Gonzalez walked, and Jason Lane followed with a 2-run double to give SWB the 6-5 win.

NOTES: Bo Hall called up from Trenton. Chris Britton sent down from NY, Kei Igawa up to NY. ... Some former Yankees playing for Indianapolis, Craig Wilson hit a solo homer. Kevin Thompson was 3rd in the league in batting. ... Raul Chavez and TJ Beam are also on the roster. ... Dan Giese gets the start Saturday with Ian Kennedy going Sunday.

I have no idea, but 45 may be cursed.

One way or another I just want to see him in the Bronx this season.
