Posada Coule Return Soon?

From the New York Post:
May 18, 2008 -- So much has been made of how much the Yankees miss Alex Rodriguez that not having Jorge Posada has been overlooked.
This week Joe Girardi hinted Posada could start a minor league rehab assignment a week from tomorrow. Yesterday, Brian Cashman didn't deny that could happen.

"It's not out of the realm of possibility," Cashman said of Posada, who hasn't started a game since April 25 because of rotator cuff tendinitis in the right shoulder, getting behind the plate. After yesterday's 7-4 Subway Series loss to the Mets the Yankees are 8-12 since Posada went down. His replacements are hitting .074 (4-for-54).

Posada threw from 70 and 90 feet yesterday and according to Cashman, the exercise went well.

"[Trainer] Gene Monahan is happy with the program," Cashman said. "We are trying to string a few days together and have no setbacks."
This is great news, and hopefully he does return in a week or two. If the Yanks can stay around the .500 mark until the Rodriguez and Posada return they will be OK. The one thing they cannot afford to do is fall to 8 or 9 games under like they did last year.
