Yanks vs. Mariners Series Preview

The Yankees enter this series having lost 6 0ut of 8 and 3 in a row. The Yanks record sits at 14-16. They're coming off a series sweep at Yankee Stadium at the hands of the Tigers for the first time since 1966. And to make matters worse there seems to be a major injury every other day. So let's just say all things are not swell in Yankee Land.

Seattle is also struggling a bit, as they come into New York after losing 2 in a row, and have also dropped 6 of their last 8. The M's record for the season is 13-16, and they currently sit in third place in the AL West, and 4.5 games out of first.

PLAYERS TO WATCH
Yankees: Bobby Abreu - For his career Abreu is a .342 hitter with 2 HR, 11 RBI, and a .900 OPS against the Seattle Mariners in 19 career games. Though he has struggled against Bedard, and might sit tonight. This season he's been one of the Yankees better hitters hitting .277 with 4 HR and 19 RBI, and with the absence of Alex Rodriguez his bat becomes that much more important.

Though he's started the year off slowly (.266 BA) Ichiro is one of the better hitters in the league, and has always done well against the Yankees, and especially well at Yankee Stadium. In 61 games against the Yanks, he's hit .324 with 5 HR, 22 RBI, and an OPS of .807. At The Stadium he's a .348 hitter, with 2 HR, 9 RBI and an OPS of .826 in 31 games.

Listen, if you cant strike out Richie Sexson and Adrian Beltre, you shouldnt be pitching in MLB.
