HR: SWB: E. Duncan (6). ROC: C. Basak (4).

PITCHING: Dan Giese, reported to be on his way to NY, started the game and pitched a scoreless 1st inning before giving way to Steven White. Giese has been a career minor league reliever until he replaced Alan Horne in the SWB rotation when Horne was injured. On the year at SWB Giese is 4-2 with a 1.98 ERA. Opponents have hit just .201 against him.

Steven White relieved Giese tossing a scoreless 2nd inning. White imploded in the 3rd inning giving up 6 runs with the big hits being a solo homer by former Yank Chris Basak, and a 3-RBI double. White gave up an uneared run in the 4th. That gave Rochester a 7-5 lead at the time. ... Billy Traber gave up 1 run in the 5th inning to give Rochester an 8-5 lead. Traber pitched scoreless 6th and 7th innings. ... J.B. Cox pitched a scoreless 8th inning giving up 1 hit and getting a strikeout. So far at SWB he's pitched 9.1 IP, 0 runs, 4 hits, 4 K's and 2 walks. His ERA is still 0.00.

OFFENSE: The Yankees broke out to a 2-0 lead in the 2nd inning when Cody Ransom was HBP and Eric Duncan followed with a 2-run homer (6). ... SWB extended their lead to 5-0 in the 3rd when J.D. Closser walked, Bernie Castro singled. Ben Broussard had a rbi single and Cody Ransom a 2-rbi double. . ... The Yanks picked up 2 more runs in the 8th on a Jason Lane single, Ben Broussard double, and Eric Duncan 2-RBI double

NOTES: Dan Giese being removed so early is a strong sign that he indeed will be called up this week. ... Chad Jennings reports that Alan Horne will make his final rehab start in Extended Spring Training tomorrow. ... He also reported that Dan McCutchen has been suspended for three games because he threw two pitches behind a Pawtucket batter. He did so after Scranton's 3 & 4 hitters were each hit by pitches twice in the series. So just like the in the Majors the Yankees cannot defend their hitters.
