Game 82: Yanks @ Mets

Regular Season Game 82
Yankees (44-37) @ Mets (39-41)
Shea Stadium - Queens, NY
Game Time: 1:10 p.m
TV: YES - MLB.TV | Radio: WCBS 880

Here are the lineups:

YANKEES
Johnny Damon LF
Derek Jeter SS
Alex Rodriguez 3B
Jorge Posada 1B
Wilson Betemit 2B
Melky Cabrera CF
Jose Molina C
Justin Christian RF
Darrell Rasner RHP (4-5, 4.50 ERA)

METS
Jose Reyes SS
Luis Castillo 2B
David Wright 3B
Carlos Beltran CF
Carlos Delgado 1B
Ryan Church RF
Endy Chavez LF
Brian Schneider C
Oliver Perez LHP (5-5, 5.29 ERA)

Notes: Perez has had success against the Yankees recently, so I'm all in favor of switching things up a little, but this is a bit much. Yes, Bobby Abreu should sit today, he's 0-for-10 against Perez. But Wilson Betemit batting 5th and playing 2nd, are you kidding me? Does Girardi know Cano is 4-for-10 against Perez. Cano has also been hitting the ball well lately, and was 2-for-3 against Santana - also a lefty - yesterday.

Betemit 5th? he should have kept Cano and Giambi in the lineup. Cano is 4/10 of of perez and Giambi hits lefties very well, not to mention Perez has a hard time throwing strikes so Giambi would walk 2 or 3 times. I do agree with Abreu being out because he is terrible vs, Perez. I wish we were vs John Maine so we'd have everyone in the lineup.

1st game of the second half of the season. Were on pace for 88 wins.

I totally agree about Giambi and Cano. Hopefully Betemit goes 4-4 and shuts me up.

Good job by Rasner to get out of that without allowing a run.

Are they really going to let this bum look like a good pitcher again?

Looks that way.

Rasner is terrible. The Yanks have no chance today.

Well this looks like another loss

Crappy game. And of course the only run comes off the bat of Wilson Betemit. Oh well I guess Joe was correct in putting him in the lineup, but I still would have liked to see Giambi and Cano out there today.

At least they split the series.
