Jason Lane Can Opt Out Tomorrow

From Mark Feinsand:
Jason Lane has an out in his minor-league contract that allows him to look for another job if he's not in the majors by tomorrow, so the Yankees must decide whether to bring him up or risk losing the outfielder.

Lane leads Scranton with 11 home runs and 37 RBI, but his average is a pedestrian .248. One option would be to send Shelley Duncan down to Scranton and give Lane a shot as the backup corner outfielder, as sources say the Yankees have become increasingly frustrated with Duncan's production.

"We have some decisions to make over the next few days," Girardi said.

Like Feinsand suggests the Yankees should send Duncan down and give Lane a chance, if Lane isn't successful Duncan can always be called backup after a few weeks in Scranton. Even though he has not hit for a high average, Lane has shown the ability to draw walks. His on-base % is 92 points higher than his batting average at .340. I don't see why the Yankees won't give this guy a shot.

What has Shelley Duncan done to deserve to stay in the majors?
