An Old Friend Signs With the Enemy

Andy Phillips, who was recently released by the Cincinnati Reds, was picked up off waivers yesterday by the New York Mets. Phillips was a big part of the Yankees' turn around last season, and I still think he could have been a useful part of this year's team.

It's good to see such a nice guy get another chance, even if it is with the bums from Queens. Although his stay there may be short-lived.

From MLB.com:
But his stay may be short-lived. The Mets have identified him as “an inventory” player, and their plans for him, according to a person familiar with the club’s thinking, may not include many games after the return of Ryan Church. And Church’s assignment to the disabled list might end before Phillips puts his legs and arms into a Mets uniform.
Good luck Andy, just not this weekend.
