Yanks To Melky: Stop Sliding

Melky Cabrera has been told to stop sliding into first base.

"That's an aggressive move as a player. In your mind you think, 'I'm going to hustle, hustle, hustle and get there quick.' But you don't," Girardi said. "In a sense, it's over-hustling. Bernie (Williams) did it for a long time and we used to get on him."

Cabrera was broken of the habit last season but reverted to sliding into the bag in recent weeks.

"We've had that talk," Girardi said.

It's about time.
