We are lucky enough to have a SWB report from BigGuy tonight. He won't be doing these all the time by when he does I will post them. Thanks BG for the great contributions.
The AAA SWB Yanks defeated the Buffalo Bisons (Indians) by a score of 5-2. The win puts the Yanks record at 50-37. They still trail red hot Pawtucket by 5 games. Shelley Duncan left the game on what appeared to be a hand injury after making a spectacular diving catch in rightfield.
PITCHING: Ross Ohlendorf got the start and threw the first 3 innings allowing 1 run on 4 hits and 1 walk. He had 1 strikeout. Ohlendorf threw 47 pitches, 29 for strikes. ... Buffalo scored 1 run in the 2nd inning on a single, walk, sac fly and RBI single to take a 1-0 lead.
Heath Phillips pitched the 4th thru 6th innings. Phillips allowed 1 run in his 3 innings, 2 hits, 1 walk, 1 strikeout. ... J B Cox pitched a perfect 7th inning. ... Cox pitched a scoreless 8th inning after giving up a single and walk he got a DP to get out of trouble. Cox picked up the win (3-2). ... Scott Strickland pitched a scoreless 9th inning to pick up his 2nd save. Strickland has been outstanding lately. He's gone 11 games covering 12.1 innings of scoreless relief.
OFFENSE: Buffalo starter lefty David Huff had the Yankee hitters baffled thru 5 innings on just 1 single by Shelley Duncan. ... In the 6th, the Yanks got to Huff for 2 runs on a Nick Green walk and Justin Christian 2-run homer (5) to tie the score at 2. ... For the 2nd night in a row J D Closser hit a 3-run homer (2) to power the win in the 7th after Jason Lane doubled and Cody Ransom walked. That gave SWB the 5-2 lead.
NOTES: Jason Jones was sent back to AA Trenton. ... Bernie Castro was put on the DL. ... Chad Jennings is reporting Ian Kennedy could get the start Thursday for SWB, and Alan Horne was not put on the DL as was reported earlier today. Thanks to Chad for the great info.
