PITCHING: Dan McCutchen got the start and the win (3-6). Columbus jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the 2nd inning on 2 doubles. McCutchen retired the next 10 batters he faced until 2 outs in the 5th inning. He gave up a doulbe, walk, and RBI single to tie the score at 2. McCutchen's line: 6.0 IP, 2 runs, 7 hits, 6 K's---1 walk. His ERA is now at 3.32. McCutchen threw 89 pitches--61 strikes, 28 balls.
J B Cox pitched a scoreless 7th inning picking up a strikeout and giving up a bunt single. ... Chris Britton gave up a run in the 8th inning on a walk and double to make the score 7-3. ... Scott Strickland pitched a scoreless 9th inning. Strickland has been outstanding. He has not allowed a run in his last 15 appearances.
OFFENSE: Former Yankee pitcher Tyler Clippard got the start for Columbus and took the loss. (5-7). ... SWB picked up 2 runs off Clippard in the 4th inning on a Juan Miranda walk and 2-run homer by Cody Ransom (15). ... In the 6th Clippard gave up back to back homers to Matt Carson (4) and Juan Miranda (5) to give SWB a 4-2 lead. ... In the 8th inning 3 runs scored. Juan Miranda singled, Cody Ransom rbi double, Ben Broussard walk, Jason Lane and Chris Stewart singled. That gave SWB the final 7-3 lead.
