(AAA) Scranton (60-42) beat Lehigh Valley 2-1: Box Score - Recap

The SWB Yanks pulled out a 2-1 win at Lehigh Valley (Phillies) to extend their winning streak to 7 games. The win puts the 2nd place Yankees record at 60-42 on the year. SWB trails 1st place Pawtucket by 3.5 games.

PITCHING: Brian Bruney made another rehab appearance. He started the game and threw a scoreless 1st inning. Bruney allowed 1 walk and had no strikeouts. He threw 13 pitches, 8 for strikes. There's a chance he could be called up to NY as soon as Sunday.

Ian Kennedy came on in the 2nd inning and pitched his best game of the year. Kennedy went 7 innings (5 perfect), allowing just 1 run on 3 hits, 5 strikeouts and 1 walk. He had first pitch strikes on 20 of the first 22 men he faced. Lehigh Valley scored its lone run in the 5th inning on a walk, stolen base, sac bunt, and rbi single to give LHV a 1-0 lead that they held until the 9th. Kennedy picked up the win (2-2). He threw 89 pitches--56 strikes. Kennedy's ERA is at 2.73. ... Scott Strickland pitched a scoreless 9th inning, allowing an infield hit to pick up his 6th save.

OFFENSE: SWB trailed 1-0 until the 9th inning. They had the bases loaded in the 2nd & 7th innings but couldn't score. ... In the 9th, Chris Stewart and Alberto Gonzalez singled. Eric Duncan got the RBI single to tie the score at 1-1. Matt Carson followed with the game winning RBI single. Final 2-1.
