The Richmond Braves snapped the SWB Yanks 10 game winning streak with a 6-3 come from behind win.
PITCHING: Ross Ohlendorf got the start and the loss (1-1). Ohlendorf had a 3 run lead going into the 4th inning. In the 4th, 2 runs scored on 3 singles and a RBI groundout to make the score SWB 3 -2 In the 5th inning, a double, sac bunt, and RBI single tied the game at 3. Ohlendorf got the first 2 batters of the 6th, gave up a single and was relieved. Ohlendorf's line: 5.2 IP, 4 runs, 9 hits, 5 K's--1 walk. His ERA is 4.03.
Billy Traber relieved Ohlendorf with 2 outs and a runner on 1st base in the 6th. A wild pitch, infield hit, and 2-RBI double scored 2 runs to give Richmond a 5-3 lead. ... Brian Bruney came on to pitch the 7th and gave up 1 run on a triple off the rightfield wall and 2 singles to make the score 6-3.
OFFENSE: SWB jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the 2nd inning on a Juan Miranda single, Cody Ransom double, and 3-run homer by Ben Broussard. SWB stranded the bases loaded in the 3rd inning. SWB managed only 4 hits and had 11 strikeouts. Eric Duncan got the other hit a double.

In one of the most exciting games of the year, Ian Kennedy was 1 out away from tossing a no-hitter against Richmond. SWB pulled out a 4-1 win in extra innings. Ben Broussard had a walk off 3 run homer in the bottom of the 8th inning for the win. It was Broussard's 2nd 3-run shot of the doubleheader.
PITCHING: Ian Kennedy was outstanding, just missing a no-hitter and a win by 1 out. . In the 7th inning with SWB up 1-0, Kennedy got the first 2 outs. A groundball to 2nd baseman Chris Basak was an error that could have preserved the no-hitter and ended the game. The next batter hit a RBI double to rightfield to tie the game at 1. Greg Porter had trouble handling the ball. Ironically, Porter made a fine catch to save a hit in the 1st inning. Kennedy came out to start the 8th and was taken out to a standing ovation. Kennedy's line: 7.0 IP, 1 hit, 1 run (unearned), 7 strikeouts--no walks. Kennedy's ERA is at 2.16 Kennedy threw 92 pitches--61 strikes.
