PITCHING: Ian Kennedy got the start and the win (3-2) Kennedy went 6 innings, allowing just 1 run on 3 hits. He gave up his only run in the 3rd inning on a walk, wild pitch, sac bunt, and sac fly. Kennedy was not hit hard, but his command wasn't sharp in the early innings. He had 3 walks, a wild pitch, and was charged with a balk. Kennedy picked up 5 strikeouts. He had at least 1 runner on base every inning but his last . Kennedy's ERA is now at 2.06.
Brian Bruney relieved Kennedy and was not sharp. He loaded the bases in the 7th on a single and 2 walks, but got a big K to get out of the jam. Bruney started the 8th and once again loaded the bases with a double, walk and single. The only upside to Bruney's night was he hit 95 on the radar gun a few times. ... Billy Traber relieved Bruney and got the final two outs to get out of the jam. ... J B Cox pitched a perfect 9th inning.
OFFENSE: SWB broke out to a 1-0 lead in the 1st inning wiht a Brett Gardner single and Bernie Castro rbi double. ... In the 4th, Chris Stewart doubled, a wild pitch, and error scored Stewart to give SWB a 2-1 lead. ... In the 5th, SWB made the score 4-1 when they picked up 2 more runs. Cody Ransom singled, Ben Broussard doubled, Alberto Gonazalez and Chris Stewart each had a RBI sac fly. ... In the 6th inning, 1 run scored when Brett Gardner was HBP and stole 2nd base (35), Bernie Castro got the RBI single. ... SWB added the final 2 runs in the 8th when Bernie Castro doubled and Ben Broussard hit a 2-run homer (8).

I think it is about time they call up Kennedy. What more does he really have to prove on the minor league level? If Ponson gets hammered next time out they should cut him.
