Damon Likely Headed to DL

From Ed Price:
Johnny Damon is likely going on the disabled list because of his bruised and sprained left shoulder.

Two people close to Damon, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because the team has not made a final decision, said they expect Damon to go on the DL.

One reason the Yankees might lean toward a DL stint is a four-day All-Star break next week. Damon could go on the DL and be eligible to return July 20, at which point he would have missed only 10 games.

"There was a time when I was a very quick healer," Damon said, "and I hope it's here again."
We all hope "it's here again" Johnny.

This would be the first time in Damon's career that he would have to go on the DL, and would be another huge blow for the Yankees.

When Damon started last season the Yankees played great baseball, and were 75-48, and 19-20 when he did not start. This season things have been a little different, he's been more effective, in fact, he should probably be an All Star, but the Yanks are just 37-38 when he starts this year, but that doesn't mean he's any less valuable. If the Yanks are going to turn this around they're going to need Damon in their lineup.
