The Yankees were embarrassed by the Baltimore Orioles tonight at Yankee Stadium, losing by a score of 13-4. The loss snaps the Yankees 10 game home winning streak.

Mike Mussina started and had his what may have been his worst start all year. Mussina allowed six runs on eights hits, including two homers in five innings of work. He also walked one and struck out four.

David Robertson also had his worst game of the year, allowing five runs on four hits and two walks in just 0.1 IP.

Edwar Ramirez and Damaso Marte both pitched well, Ramirez retired the only two batters he faced, and Marte pitched a scoreless inning, striking out two along the way.

Kyle Farnsworth had a bad outing tonight, allowing his first earned runs since June 22nd. He gave up a 2-run homer to Aubrey Huff. At least it came in a game that was already decided and not in a big spot.

Jose Veras pitched a scoreless 9th, allowing two hits, and striking out two.

ORIOLES PITCHING

The Yankees offense was a no-show tonight, but in the words of Joe Girardi, I guess you have to tip your cap to the O's pitching, specifically Jeremy Guthrie who dominated the Yankees over 6.1 innings of work.

Xavier Nady picked up his first hit as a Yankee, a long home run into death valley in left.

Johnny Damon drove in the three other Yankees runs, he was 2-for-5, with a 3-run homer.

With the score 4-0 in the bottom of the 4th Derek Jeter banged into his team-leading 16th double play of the season. I'm not saying the Yankees would have won the game if he got a hit, but it may have changed the game if the Yankees could have scored a few runs there.

At least the Rays and Sox lost tonight so the Yankees did not lose any ground, although you can also look at it as a wasted opportunity to gain ground, it all depends on how you look at it.
