The Yankees made it 4-for-4 in games that Sidney Ponson started, tonight beating the Twins 12-4 at The Stadium. Ponson went 5.2 innings, allowed three runs on nine hits, while striking out two and walking two. 11 base runners in 5.2 innings isn't good, but like two of his previous three starts he avoided the big inning, and gave the Yanks a pretty good start overall.

Edwar Ramirez struck out the only batter he faced. He now has 43 strike outs in 36.1 innings pitched.

Dave Robertson threw a scoreless 7th, and struck out one. He now has 14 strike outs in 11 innings.

Latroy Hawkins pitched the final two innings, he allowed a run on one hit, and struck out two.

TWINS PITCHING

The Yankees offense showed up today as they racked up 12 runs on 16 hits against Nick Blackburn and three Twins' relievers.

Alex Rodriguez hit a 1st inning two-run homer, his 21st of the year, to give the Yankees a 2-0 lead.

After the Twins tied it in the top of the 2nd, the Yankees came back and scored four in the bottom half, and another two in the 3rd to put the game away. In the 2nd inning, Derek Jeter and Alex Rodriguez both had RBI singles, Abreu drove also in a run on a fielder's choice, and another run scored on an error by Alexi Casilla. Robinson Cano hit a solo homer into the upper deck in the 3rd to make it a 7-2 game, and the Yankees added another on a Johnny Damon RBI ground-rule double.

Derek Jeter led off the 6th with a solo homer to right. The Yankees scored two more in the inning, one on a Cano RBI single, and another on a throwing error to make it 11-3. They added their 12th run in the bottom of the 8th.

Every Yankee starter besides Jason Giambi got a hit. Six Yankees had multi-hit games.
