(AAA) Scranton (77-49) beat Lehigh Valley 2-1: Box Score - Recap

PITCHING: Ian Kennedy made his first start since being demoted from NY. Kennedy worked into the 6th inning, and wasn't really sharp with his command. He only had 1 perfect inning. Kennedy only allowed 1 run on 6 hits, with 5 srikeouts and 1 walk. The lone run scored in the 4th on a double and single that tied the score at 1-1. Kennedy started the 6th inning, giving up a walk and single before being relieved. He threw 99 pitches---57 strikes.

J B Cox relieved Kennedy in the 6th with 2 on and nobody out. He got a strikeout and walked a batter to load the bases. Cox got a DP to get out of the inning. ... Phil Coke came on to pitch a perfect 7th. Coke started the 8th inning getting 2 strikeouts and giving up a single before being relieved by Scott Strickland. ... Strickland got a strikeout for the final out of the 8th. ... Strickland got the first 2 batters on groundouts in the 9th. A double just missed being a homer, hitting off the top of the wall. The next batter hit a shot down the first base line that Juan Miranda snagged for the final out of the game.

OFFENSE: SWB broke out to a 1-0 lead in the 1st inning when Brett Gardner singled, Chris Basak followed with a RBI double. ... SWB stranded the bases loaded in the 2nd inning. ...The Yanks took a 2-1 lead in a weird 6th inning. Cody Ransom walked, moved to 2nd on a balk, to 3rd base on a wild pitch, and scored on a passed ball. ... The Yanks missed a scoring chance when Gardner led off the 7th inning with a triple but was stranded.

NOTES: Jason Jones was sent back to Trenton. ... Jason Lane came off the DL with a rib cage injury.
