The SWB Yankees shutout Lehigh Valley (Phillies) 4-0. It was the Yankees 13th shutout of the year. The win puts the Yanks 30 games over .500 for the first time this year at 82-52. The Yankees now hold a 3 1/2 game lead over Pawtucket. SWB finished the season series with LHV with a 14-2 record.
PITCHING: Chase Wright pitched a gem for the Yankees picking up the win (2-0). He shutout Lehigh Valley thru 7 innings on 5 hits and no walks. The only threat came on a leadoff double in the 7th inning. That double was the only extra base hit allowed. Wright never allowed more than 1 base runner in an inning.
Wrights line: 7.0 IP, 0 runs, 5 hits, 3 K's----0 walks ERA 2.05. He threw 92 pitches, 62 for strikes. 7 groundouts--10 flyouts.
Phil Coke came on to pitch a perfect 8th inning. ... Scott Strickland pitched a perfect 9th inning.
OFFENSE: The Yankees took a 2-0 lead in the 2nd inning. Walks to Eric Duncan and Matt Carson, and a Nick Green single loaded the bases. Chris Stewart followed with a RBI groundout, with Justin Christian getting a RBI single. ...
