Notes: So much for all that Jeter won't miss any time talk. From now on whatever Joe Girardi says regarding injuries I'm going to expect the opposite to occur. Why can't this guy just be honest and straightforward with these injuries? Do he believe his positive attitude will heal these guys?
Rasner is 1-1 with a 3.71 ERA in 3 starts against he Twins in his career. He's 0-1 with a 4.91 ERA this season. ... Slowey is 0-1 with a 9.00 ERA in two career starts against the Yankees.

Melky playing is absurd. Girardi just doesn't get it.
Things I've learned so far watching today's game:
Giambi has an awful glove design.
The Yankees have some stubborn belief that playing Melky more often will help the team.
Rasner is actually capable of not allowing a run in the 1st inning.
I like the way this lineup looks. That is a very powerful 1-6 right there. And as solid as a 7-9 gets in the league.
Also, with 40 games left in the season, you have to believe 92 wins is the benchmark for a wild card berth, that means the Yanks have to go 28-14 (.667) baseball, I think they can do it.
We could be 7 behind by tonight. If they can win today, and since the Rays are vs Duchscherer we have a good shot at picking up a game. I said it last night the Rays will not win the divison. So its up to us to catch them for the wild card, and hope that the Twins dont play great the rest of the way. We can still do it! if we can 4-2 against the Rays, thats 2 games closer. They play the Red Sox 6 times, we can pick up another game or twom there. They pla ythe Angels this weekend, we play the Royals, that could be another two games we pick up. We just need to take care of our business and make sure we do our part.

Man what is it with this team and pitchers who can't break 90mph?
we do have alot, they're all the same. Fastball, 2 seamer ,curve, little slider. Nothing great. I'm suprised these guys dont get hammered every time.
Dan
Ya know dan, you can just put your name in the name/url section to avoid the foot signature... just an idea.
Im not sold that the Rays can run away with the east either, after the mets last year anythings possible in september, but the most anticipating thing is going to be that final 3 game set vs. boston to finish off the season. Unfortunately Bostons only out of division opponents in september is cleveland, and they fare very well against the jays and O's, something we havent done this year.
So if were gonna build on getting some of these games back, theyre gonna have to be done before the calendar flips. Its gonna be a longgggg september.
"Obviously, things didn't go real well up there at the beginning of the year. I'm sure they want to see me prove myself down here again, so however many starts they feel that is, I'll roll with it."

looks like our little babys all growns up.
I'm so tired of Rasner's game. Get behind hitters, fail to get any off speed pitches anywhere near the plate, give up a bunch of runs. I'm tired of it. I'd rather see Igawa or Pavano or both.
And Cano is seriously starting to get to me, too. He's not hitting, and he makes stupid mistakes on the bases and in the field.
And while I'm at it... @#$^ Delmon Young. This asshat has FIVE home runs and suddenly he's got A-Rod type CF-RF power? I don't CARE that Rasner threw a cookie in there - I'm sure Young has missed HUNDREDS of cookies this year. Why the effing hell does it have to come against the Yankees?
Cano looks awful. I can't believe how a guy with his talent can play this bad.
Because of Cano's stupid error.
These idiots are up there swinging at balls way out of the zone and taking the strikes. Smart approach.
Melky needs to be send down to AAA. There's no two ways about it.
And Betemit doesn't hustle on his base hit down the RF line, then doesn't hustle on Melky's ground ball. Good job, Wilson.
Why do I bother getting my hopes up? I should have learned by now. This team has had several games that you'd think would give them a little bit of momentum, only to come back and look like they've been mathematically eliminated weeks ago, and are going through the motions.
With Girardi's "boot camp" this spring, I thought this team would play alert, hustling, crisp baseball... Instead I've seen a ton of half-asleep, half-assed baseball in terms of fundamentals. It's really frustrating.
You can take it when you have a good approach to the game but it just doesn't work out. But to see game after game lost because of mental errors, awful situational hitting, and all-around lazy baseball, you start to question Girardi's leadership and cajones.
So I guess the Yankees are looking to set the record for pop ups in one game.
This team is just full of dumb, lazy Puerto Ricans. Datsit! I lub my yob mang.
And now Giese goes down with some apparent shoulder issue. Just great.
Ahh, yes. Of course some idiot has to show up with racist jokes. The icing on this s$#@-cake of a day.
Stop with the racist nonsense. It's not Puerto Rico's fault the Yankees stink.
It's nice to see A-Rod back in all out choke mode. Way to do something with that 3-1 pitch you fucking bum.
Oh, yea, great trade Cashman. What's our record since acquiring Pudge? Pudge and Melky in the same lineup = LOSS. Add in the great Arod and there you ahve it.
Unreal. What a loser team with loser players. We can't make routine plays, we dont play fundamentally sound then we swing at pitches that are nowhere near strikes. Its amazing that NO OTHER TEAM has this problem.
That wasn't racist, race-mixers.
Seriously, what kind of person doesn't know the difference between a red and green traffic light? If you notice the differences does that make you a racist? Should you have the right to drive if you don't notice differences?
If you want racism then check out the NAACP or MLK or Al Sharpton or Jesse Jackson. You'll find it there.
What really frustrates me most is that it's our batters who are really letting us down. I could stomach it more if it was all due to the starting pitchers. What more could anyone expect from Rasner today? A-Rod finally hits one clutch home run and he thinks everything is well with the world and the Yankees. Great players don't go 0-5 before they make contact with one. And as for Cano and Cabrera. Sounds like a comedy act. Plays like one too.
This team makes TOO many stupid mistakes. We screw up basic fundamental baseball plays. I don't get it.
BB
It was just an overall pathetic game. And like Bruce said, it's not even the pitching that's costing this team games, it's the offense. And the major problem is we're stuck with a no. 4 hitter who can't hit in the clutch for the next 9 years. And no, one hit yesterday obviously didn't get his head right, cause as an anonymous poster said earlier, he was back to "all out choke mode" today.
