9/11 Minor League Report (Playoff Edition)

================

We are lucky enough to have a SWB report from BigGuy tonight. He won't be doing these all the time by when he does I will post them. Thanks BG for the great contributions.

(AAA) Scranton-Wilkes Barre (88-56) lost to Durham 3-2 in game 3 of the Governors' Cup (SWB leads series 2-1): Box Score - Recap

PITCHING: Kei Igawa (14-6, 3.45 ERA reg. season) got the start for the Yankees and pitched a very solid game. Igawa threw a scoreless 1st inning, allowing a single. Durham jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the 2nd inning on a solo homer by Elliott Johnson. Igawa tossed a perfect 3rd and 4th innings. In the 5th inning a leadoff walk, bunt single, and Igawa throwing error led to an unearned run to give Durham a 2-0 lead. Igawa gave up a leadoff double to start the 6th, but did a great job working out of the jam. Igawa started the 7th with a strikeout then gave up a double and walk before being relieved. Igawa's line: 6.1 IP, 2 runs (1 earned), 5 hits, 5 K's--2 walks, 105 pitches---71 strikes.

David Robertson relieved Igawa in the 7th with runners on 1st and 2nd and 1 out and got out of the jam with 2 strikeouts. Robertson pitched a scoreless 8th inning. Oneili Perez came on to pitch the 9th. He got a quick strikeout then gave up a walk. Nathan Haynes followed with a walk-off RBI double to give Durham a 3-2 victory.

OFFENSE: Jeff Neimann started for Durham. Justin Christian started off the game with a double, but was stranded at 3rd base. SWB cut the Durham lead to 2-1 in the 6th off Neimann when Justin Christian walked, stole 2nd and 3rd bases, and scored on Juan Miranda's RBI single. The Yankees tied the score at 2 in the 8th inning. Justin Christian reached base for the 4th time in the game with a double and scored on Juan Miranda's 2nd RBI single of the game.

NOTES: Phil Hughes gets the start Friday for SWB, Wade Davis goes for Durham. Nick Green injured his back on a swing in Tuesday's game. SWB added Addison Maruszak and Jonathan Albaladejo from the Staten Island roster. The Padres claimed pitcher Scott Patterson off waivers. ... Peter Abraham is reporting that "Brian Cashman mentioned the other day that Humberto Sanchez could get bumped up to the majors once the Eastern League championship series is finished." and that the Yanks have decided to try him out as a reliever.
