The Angels are really good, and the Yankees are not. The Angels beat and battered the Yankees in every facet of the game, easily winning this one, 12-1.
Carl Pavano was good for the first five innings, but he lost it in the 6th. In 5.1 Pavano allowed five runs on six hits and walk, he also struck out two.
The bullpen was equally bad; Dan Giese and Edwar Ramirez got hammered by the Angels, allowing a combined five earned runs on six hits in one inning of work. Chris Britton was OK; he pitched the final 1.2 innings, and allowed just one run.
In the top of the first the Yankees scored a run on an A-Rod RBI single. They then loaded the bases loaded with two out, but Matsui grounded out to end the inning. The Yankees were only able to get three more hits over the next eight innings, and never had another threat.
The benches cleared in the bottom of the 6th after Torii Hunter bumped Ivan Rodriguez on a play at the plate. Hunter and Pudge went after each other, but it wasn't a big deal. Both players were ejected. I just think Pudge is frustrated about his .218 average as a Yankee.
It looks like this team is just going through the motions. I know, I know, all teams look lethargic when they're losing, but with the reality of the season setting in there is a good chance they may actually have given up.

Well, that's the old icing on the funeral cake right there.
Thanks for sticking with the blog, Greg. I wouldn't have the fortitude and dedication to keep things updated on a daily basis like you have, especially with some of the worst baseball I've seen this team play in ages. Your efforts are appreciated.
No problem, I'll continue no matter how bad it gets.
