Game 153: Yanks vs. White Sox

Regular Season Game 153
Yankees (81-71) vs. Chi Sox (84-67)
Yankee Stadium - Bronx, NY
Game Time: 7:05 p.m.
TV: YES - MLB.TV | Radio: WCBS 880

Here are the lineups:

YANKEES

Mike Mussina RHP (17-9, 3.63 ERA)

WHITE SOX

Javier Vazquez RHP (12-13, 4.13 ERA)

Notes: Mike Mussina is 17-16 with a 4.57 ERA in 38 career starts against the White Sox. This season he's 1-0 with a 2.57 ERA in one start. ... In 5 career starts Javy Vazquez is 1-4 with a 6.14 ERA against the Yankees. This season he's 0-1 with a 10.12 ERA in one start. ...

Barring any miracles, like the Yanks making the playoffs or someone giving me tickets to Sunday's game, tonight will be my final visit to The House That Ruth Built. It will be a very sad and weird feeling leaving that place for what I know will be the last time.

Have fun at tonight's game. Thanks for your blog. I really enjoy and and read it every day. A good tonic for the yankees fans on the west coast.

Enjoy it and appreciate it fully for all the Yankee fans who aren't fortunate enough to make a game this season. It's a shame that my last visit to the cathedral was last season (and I didn't know it would be the final time I stepped foot inside).

don't worry greg, you're still a man even if you shed a tear. thats what i keep telling myself for when sunday rolls around. i know i'm gonna get the chills when bernie comes out for one last hoo-rah. i've been going for 27 years now and i'm still not ready to say goodbye. what's up with the concert on November 9th? I just heard about it today. perhaps bernie will pluck the gee-tar strings with paul mccartney or bruce springsteen or maybe even twisted sister will honk out a tune.

Just got home (went for a few beers after the game), it was a good game, nice easy win for the Yanks.

As for it being my last trip to The Stadium, that was what made tonight special, and very sad. I'll explain a little more in the game summary, but yes, I did have to fight back some tears as I was leaving the place, and I'm not ashamed to admit it.
