could have had santana. hughes=santana?..., never!

This argument is old and tired.

They would have had to give up Melky, Kennedy, and Hughes, and at the time it was not a deal they should have made. Had Cashman been a psychic and known what was going to happen with Melky and Kennedy, then he would have made the deal.

Also it's silly to believe that Santana would dominate the AL like he did the NL this year. He would have still had a good year, but nothing like this. Remember, in the AL pitchers don't hit and the lineups aren't a joke.

Seriously you need to get over the whole Santana trade. Greg is absolutely right, at the time it wasn't a no-brainer, and who knows what would have happened to Johan in the AL? I think his interleague ERA this year was over 4.

Thank you Marc. I'm glad I'm not alone on this.

No problem Greg, I'm sick of this argument already. What's done is done. Look forward, not backward.

No, you're not alone. I agree with you and Marc as well. Yes, if they had known what Kennedy and Melky were going to do this year, and the fact that they both now look like they are nothing but AAAA players, the deal should have been made. But nobody knew this 8 months ago, so you can't really blame Cashman for not making the trade.

Greg is right. There is no guarantee how Santana's arm is going to hold up after years of being his own set up man and closer as seen again today. He could've went to the Yankees and turned into Randy Johnson, looking really old and worn out.

Wow, I'm surprised there are people who see this the same way I do. Cool!
