Hal and Hank Steinbrenner agree they want Brian Cashman back as the Yankees' GM, The Post has learned.According to a MLB source, the Steinbrenner family has decided Cashman is the man to lead the organization back from a nightmarish season that will end with the Yankees missing playoffs for the first time since 1993.
Cashman, who last week shouldered the blame for the dismal season, met with Hal and Hank yesterday at Steinbrenner Field in Tampa. No contract offer was made but, according to the source, Cashman is aware of the Steinbrenners' wishes.
I'm sure there are many of you out there who are bothered by this, but as more and more articles come out stating the same thing, it looks very likely that as long as Cashman wants to return to the Yankees next season he will.
Like I've said on many occasions I believe Cashman should come back next season. I'm not going to go over why again, but if you care you can find out here, and here.
Give him a two year extension and see what he can do. With free agents like Mark Teixeira, CC Sabathia, and others on the market this will be a very important offseason for this team, and Cashman.

Cashman's an idiot. He's ruined this team.
Bad idea in support of a bad plan. Cashman is clueless and from my perspective he doesn't have a firm grip on what needs to be done. I expect bext year to look a lot like this year.
OK fine, he's an idiot, can you tell me why? Besides the Santana deal, which I still don't think the Yankees should have made, what makes him so "clueless"?
I'm not saying he isn't, I just want to know why you think he is.
