Who are the players Braves general manager Frank Wren will most likely look at while trying to find a power-hitting outfielder?
.... A more likely option for Atlanta could be Xavier Nady, who was on Wren's radar before being traded to the Yankees before this year's Trade Deadline. If the Yankees are willing to deal, the Braves certainly have reason to make an offer for Nady, who could double his $3.35 million salary through arbitration. With Nady in place, the Yankees might be more apt to say goodbye to Bobby Abreu, who is reportedly looking for a three-year contract. At 34 years old, Abreu might not be worth the $16 million salary that he earned this past season. But coming off consecutive 100-RBI seasons, he's certainly worth a look.
Joseph P. from River Ave. Blues, who was filling in at MLB Trade Rumors today speculated that maybe a Nady for Casey Kotchman deal might be possible. He also said that Kotchman is really the only guy on the Braves' roster that would make sense for the Yanks, and he's absolutely right.
If the Braves would do that it would be a nice backup plan if the Yanks can't sign Mark Teixeira. The Yanks would then have to either re-sign Bobby Abreu, or sign Manny to play right field.
And don't get me wrong, I like Nady and have no problem with him being the Yankees starting right fielder next season, but with that said, the Yankees should still see what kind of market there is for him.
What do you guys think about this?

this move is perfect. nady for kotchman frees up a spot in the crowded outfield and we only "have" to make one offseason position player move, by getting manny.
then we can focus on gettin C.C. and work on our pitching.
ehh, i think we could do better for nady. kotchman is amazing at defense, and good at offense, but i want TEIXEIRA. i heard a good trade from a caller from the mike francesa show. nady and cano for beltran. beltran is what we need in center, although he makes alot of money. it sounds like it would be a trade that would work out for both teams.
dan^^
Anon.
Are you serious, more for Nady than one of the better 1B prospects, and trade a good 2B and a good OF for a good CF is fair for both teams, you must be a Mets fan.
I will like this trade and signing Manny more than trying to over pay for Teixeira. And like Joe said we could then focus only on the top of the rotation pitcher.
probably the best cf in the game for a good outfielder and a good second baseman, with a good second baseman on the free agent market. cf has been a problem for us since bernie was in his prime. last year we got no production out of that position. and beltran has great range and a great arm, with power and speed. yes it is a fair trade, but i dont think the mets would do it.
Nady is not bad. In fact, besides Jeter at times, he was the only one hitting in the clutch this year. He also has great range in the outfield.
i dont like nady... have you seen his career numbers...
Your right Anon. This year he was good, but next year he can stink just like other yanks do.
Why are you guys talking about signing expensive position players? What we need is too spend on the most expensive pitchers, then our yanks will be better then this year.
Dan
The best CF in baseball, what. The guy seems to get injured every season and he is not the best, I will pick Sizmore, Ichiro, Rios, Granderson, Hamilton over Beltran especially if I have to give one of the best young 2B and a promising starter for him. That will be the worst trade ever.
If the Braves are looking for a power bat, then why in the name of god get rid of TEIXERIA?!?!
No way on Beltran..getting old and paid way too much. Yanks need to get younger, faster (ok, Beltran is fast) and more financially feasible players. Excessively spending for free agent players at or past their prime as they've done in the past only fills the war chests of their enemies with luxury tax receipts. Why aid thy enemy? Develop talent internally, spend wisely to put you over the top. Throwing gobs of money at 2 free agents isn't going to solve enough problems with this team to win a WS. There are too many deficiencies up and down the lineup. Situational hitting is pathetic and defense is averge at best.
yankspax,
What do you think the Yanks should they do?
They can't go into next year with the same team they had this year, and besides Gardner they don't have position players that are MLB ready.
Signing Teixeira makes them better defensively, he's an on-base % machine, he's a good situational hitter, and he's just 28.
Sabathia is also 28 and he's one of the better pitchers in the league. I don't see how signing either of these guys will hurt this team.
GallagherUSA,
They traded him because they knew they weren't going to be able to sign him.
goddman boston. thanks aybar, nice bunt dick. cant trust anyother team to do a favor for us. we NEED to win next year. no more failing
Dan,
What the hell was Socia thinking? Why would you try a suicide squeeze in that spot? Let Aybar hit, he won the damn game the night before. Just stupid over managing if you ask me.
And yes, the Yankees really need to show up next season and win no. 27.
You do know Kotchman stunk hitting wise when he went to Atlanta. Personally I would keep Nady but if they were to trade him to Atlanta, I would choose their 2B Kelly Johnson, purely as a replacement for Cano if we were to trade him.
Yea Kotchman wasn't great with Atlanta offensively, but I don't think that's reason to give up on the guy. He's still just 25. Anyway, I still want them to sign Teixeira, but as I said this wouldn't be a bad backup plan.
Nady sure wasn't a world beater with us. .265 average is NOTHINg special. Many yankee fans wanted Bay instead. Another great trade by the almighty cashman.
How could the Yankees have gotten Bay? There was no chance the prospects the Yankees gave up for Nady and Marte would have been able to get Bay.
If Nady leaves, then I can see Manny crying to come to the Yankees. That would be a nee slapper!!
