Holliday Traded to A's

From ESPN:

Matt Holliday appears headed to the Oakland Athletics in a deal with the Colorado Rockies, baseball sources have told ESPN's Jerry Crasnick and Buster Olney.

Final details are being finalized, though the teams have agreed to terms, a baseball source told Olney. The source said the deal may not be finalized for up to 48 hours.

The deal is also pending completion of physical exams.

Pitcher Greg Smith, who was 7-16 with a 4.16 ERA last season for the A's, is one of the players in the deal, a source confirmed to Crasnick. Among the other players who has been discussed were left-handed pitcher Brett Anderson, outfielders Ryan Sweeney and Carlos Gonzalez.

Oakland has been weighing offers for closer Huston Street, but it's uncertain if he's part of the Holliday deal. The Rockies have a need for late-inning relief with Brian Fuentes about to leave through free agency.

Usually it's the A's shipping off their stars to other teams, so I'm sure you're as surprised as I am at this deal.

UPDATE: The trade is Holiday for closer Huston Street, outfielder Carlos Gonzalez and left-handed pitcher Greg Smith.

Scott Miller of CBSSports.com is reporting that the Rockies might not keep him.
One source said Monday that the Rockies are prepared to turn around and trade him -- though to which team he wasn't sure.

Rumor has it the deal is for Carlos Gonzalez, Greg Smith, and Huston Street.

And I doubt this is Holliday's last stop.

"And I doubt this is Holliday's last stop."

I wouldn't be surprised by that either Mateo.

So far it has been verified that Gonzalez and Smith are in the deal. And like Mateo said, Street appears to be the final piece in the trade.

Oh yes, things will be really funny if Holliday goes down with a season-ending foot injury in mid-June while running the bases.
