- Joel Sherman is reporting that the Yankees still have interest in Mike Cameron:

I don't care how bad a year Melky had it's not worth shipping him off for Mike Cameron and his salary.Earlier this week the Brewers picked up the $10 million 2009 option on Cameron. Nevertheless, Milwaukee believes its lineup is too right-handed plus it needs pitching. ... The Yanks also have talked to several teams about Wilson Betemit, another switch-hitter like Cabrera who is superior from the left side.
Cabrera, Betemit and a pitcher is probably a package - combined with the savings Milwaukee would receive from moving Cameron's contract - that the Yanks would be willing to move for Cameron.
- Yesterday Sherman also reported that the Yankees have expressed interest in Orlando Hudson. If the Yankees move Cano look for the Yankees to sign Hudson for replace him.
- The Yankees have also inquired about Rangers' catchers Gerald Laird and Jarrod Saltalamacchia. And they're also keeping tabs on Ivan Rodriguez.
- Yahoo Sports is reporting a potential 3-way deal involving Hideki Matsui.
One source mentioned a potential three-way deal that would send outfielder Hideki Matsui from the New York Yankees to the Seattle Mariners for a pitching prospect, perhaps Ryan Rowland-Smith. The Yankees would package the prospect with second baseman Robinson Cano and another young player to the Rockies for Holliday.Interesting idea, I wouldn't be against it.
- For some stupid reason there is still a chance Jason Giambi could return to the Yankees next year.
"I wouldn't be surprised if he was a major run producer for somebody next year, and that could include us," Cashman said of Giambi. "I haven't crossed him off the list of potential guys to re-sign. We're going to look at what the market is, and I'm keeping him in that market. I'm not opposed to bringing him back."- Brian Cashman announced that Phil Hughes is not untouchable, which may open the door for a Peavy to Yanks trade. The Yankees would probably have to offer a package of Hughes, Austin Jackson, and another player or two. As I've said many times, I'd stay away.
- Peter Abraham says that the Yankees and Mets may end up in a bidding war for Derek Lowe's services. Apparently Scott Boras has already discussed Lowe with both teams - I'd rather the Yankees just resign Pettitte and let Lowe go over to Queens. ... Abraham also said that the Yankees and Mets may compete for the services of A.J. Burnett and Oliver Perez.

1) I have heard that it would be Melky and a pitcher for Cameron. As long as the pitcher is of no use to us, I say deal. Yes, Cameron strikes out too much but he is a veteran with some pop, and he will not be afraid of the spotlight which is a huge plus.
2) The three team trade won't ever happen but we can dream, can't we?
3) Stay away from Giambi!
4) Peavy will stay a great starter in the AL. His ERA might go up into the mid 3's but that would be quite good. I would also like to get CC as well though. CC/Peavy/Wang/Pettite/Chamberlain is the best we have had in quite some time. I doubt Peavy will be traded to us though.
My major concern with Peavy is the cost. They will ask for more than Minnesota asked for Santana. It's just too much to give up in my opinion.
Well, I would not trade Kennedy and Hughes in the same trade. I am not as high on Jackson as some people though. Yes, he is a five tool player but there are a lot of those in the majors who never pan out. Hughes, Jackson, and a pitcher not named Kennedy would be okay. I doubt they would go Kennedy, Jackson, and another pitcher not named Hughes.
Why in the world would the Yankees be keeping tabs on I-Rod?
I don't like this guy.
I'm not sure about Cameron, I'd trade Hughes if the deal was for the right player, no to Giambi and Pudge, and the three team deal sounds like a neat one if they can do it.

Giambi is not a horrible player. He's just not a fielder. When he was the DH in 2006, he hit 37 homers and 113 RBIs.
It may just be that his body gets worn out after playing 1B day after day after day...
That makes sense trading prospects who most likely will come back to haunt them for a pitcher who does not even want to play for you but may come begrudgingly for a pay check. Yeah Yankees!!! Keep building on that sound philosophy that has brought success since 2002!
