Yanks Have Interest in Swisher

From Ken Davidoff (hat tip to WasWatching.com):
The Yankees have spoken with the White Sox about their interest in Nick Swisher. The person with whom I spoke about this stressed to me that the talks were extremely preliminary. The White Sox are not looking to dump Swisher, contrary to some reports out there. They'd much rather unload someone like Jermaine Dye, Paul Konerko or Jim Thome, although those are three challenging assignments.

So stay tuned on this one. If the Yankees strike out on Mark Teixeira, and if the White Sox can't get anything done elsewhere, then maybe this advances. For now, though, it's but a whisper.
Swisher is coming off his worst season in the big leagues, a year that saw him hit just .219/.332/.410, with 24 HR and 69 RBI. But with that said he is still pretty young (27) and he can play first base as well as all three outfield positions, so he may not be a bad backup plan if they can't get Teixeira.

I like the idea of getting Swisher on 1st. He resembles the demeaner that used to be all over the 1990's Yankeee teams. He would match up well in NY with guys like Jeter, Arod, PEttite, Matsui and especially Nady; of whom I believe shares the same type of demeaner.

You know what I mean about the way he carries himself? Productive, professional but not front page news, 10x allstar, etc etc etc.

I know what you mean about his demeanor, he's a grinder and he seems to stay out of the headlines.

But you lost me a bit when you said 10x all-star. Unless of course you meant that's not what he is.
