12/14 Winter Ball Report

Dominican League:

As soon as the MiLB.com scoreboard updates itself I will add the results here.

Venezuelan League:

- Francisco Cervelli (Lara) went 0-for-2 with a walk dropping his average to .225.

- Edwar Gonzalez (Lara) went 3-for-4 with a double. His average is now up to .333.

Mexican League:

- Ramiro Pena (Culiacan) went 3-for-4 with two runs scored. The three hits raises his average to .264 for the winter.

Puerto Rican League:

- Ian Kennedy (Mayaguez) did not make a start this week. Totals -- 6 Gms. 2-2 , 1.56 ERA, 34.2 IP, 6 ER, 19 hits (1 HR) BAA .164, Whip 0.89 31 K--12 walks.

- Jonathan Albadalejo (Mayaguez) is having an outstanding winter league. In 9 games covering 13.1 innings he has yet to allow a run. This week he made 2 appearances covering 2.2 innings allowing 2 hits. picking up his 9th save. Totals -- 9 Gms, 13.1 IP, 0 Runs, 8 hits, 9 K--1 walk, BAA .170

Dominican League:

- Robinson Cano (Estrelles) played in 2 games this week going 3-9 with a solo homer and 2 singles. Totals -- .296 (16-54), 10 RBI, 13 runs, 6 doubles, 1 HR, OBP .367 3 K--5 walks

- Melky Cabrera (Aquilas) was 2-11 on the week in 3 games with a double and 2 runs scored. Melky has been playing rightfield. Totals -- .308 (20-65), 13 runs, 6 RBI, 4 doubles, OBP . 384 8 K--8 walks, 2 stolen bases.

- Wilkins Arias (Aquilas) picked up his 4th hold in relief Thursday going 0.2 IP not allowing any runs or hits. Totals -- 15 Gms. 9 IP, 14 ER, 13 hits, 12 K---7 walks.

Mexican League:

- Ramiro Pena (Culican) went 8-27 for the week, including a 3-4 Saturday night, scoring 2 runs. Totals -- .264 (24-91), 10 runs, 7 RBI, 3 doubles, 1 HR, 8 K--0 walks

- Walter Ibarra (Hermosillo) was 0-1 in his only at bat as a pinch hitter this week. Totals -- .197 (1471), 2 RBI, 3 runs, 3 stole bases, 16 K--3 walks.

Venezuelan League:

- Franciscon Cervelli ( Lara ) played in only 2 games this week going 1-6 with a doubLe, walk, and 3 strikeouts. Totals -- .256 (11-43), 8 runs, 2 RBI, 1 HR, 12 K--8 walks.

Edgar Soto ( Zuila ) appeared in his 2nd game, first since mid Oct. the other day. Soto threw 0.2 innings, no runs, 1 hit. Totals -- 2 Gms, 1.2 IP, 5 ER, 6 hits 2 K--1 walk

NOTES: The Yankees lost Reegie Corona (Mariners #2 pick), Zack Kroenke (Marlins # 12 pick), Jason Jones (Twins #14 pick), and Ivan Nova (Padres #20 pick) in the Rule 5 Draft Thursday. In the minor league phase of the draft they lost LHP Andres Santos to the Pirates, and RHP Josue Selenes to the A's. The Yanks could not draft anybody. Chad Moeller has signed a free agent deal with the Orioles. Matt Carson signed a minor league deal with the A's. The Yanks signed 4 minor leaguers. OF-2B Justin Leone, plus resigned 3 of their own free agents, Ben Blumenthal, Carlos Mendoza and Jose Valdez.

Dominican League: Robinson Cano is playing for Estrellas de Oriente. Melky Cabrera and Wilkins Arias are playing for Aguilas Cibaenas. And Oneli Perez and Amaury Sanit are playing for Tigres del Licey.

Puerto Rican League: Ian Kennedy and Jonathan Albaladejo are on Indios de Mayaguez. And Bernie Williams will play for Gigantes de Carolina.

Mexican League: Ramiro Pena is playing for Tomateros de Culiacan. And Walter Ibarra is on Naranjeros de Hermosillo.

Venezuelan League: Francisco Cervelli, Edwar Gonzalez and Carlos Mendoza are playing for Cardenales de Lara. And Edgar Soto is on Aguilas del Zulia.
