Dominican League:

Melky Cabrera (Aguilas) went 0-for-4 to drop his batting average to .310.

Mexican League:

Ramiro Pena (Calican) went 1-for-5.

Walter Ibarra (Hermosillo) went 0-for-1.

Puerto Rican League

Ian Kennedy (Mayaguez) pitched a gem last Sunday. He threw a complete game shutout in his 5th start. Kennedy allowed only 3 hits and 1 walk picking up the win. He also added 7 strikeouts. Kennedy ran his scoreless innings streak to 19 innings.

Kennedy made his 2nd start of the week Saturday night against Melky Cabrera's Dominican Aquilas team. Kennedy's 19 inning scoreless streak was snapped by Melky's rbi single in the 1st inning. That was the only run Kennedy allowed in 6 innings. Kennedy gave up 5 hits, 2 walks. 6 strikeouts. He left the game trailing 1-0. and that was the final score. He took the loss (2-2).

Totals -- 6 Gms, 2-2, 1.56 ERA, 34.2 IP, 6 runs, 19 hits, 31 K--12 walks, .164 BAA, 0.89 WHIP

Jonathan Albadaledjo (Mayaguez), continues his outstanding pitching as the closer for Mayaguez. Albadaledjo picked up his 6th & 7th saves in his 2 appearances this week covering 3 innings, allowing 2 hits with 3 K's--0 walks. He has yet to allow a run in league play.

Totals -- 9 Gms, 7 Svs. 0.00 ERA, 10.2 IP, 0 runs, 6 hits, 7 K---1 walk.

Dominican League

Robinson Cano (Estrellas) went 4-17 for the week in 4 games, with a double and 3 runs scored. Totals -- 11 Gms, .289 (13-45), 7 RBI, 12 runs, 6 doubles, OBP .373, 2 K---5 walks, 1 stolen base.

Melky Cabrera (Aquilas) continues to have a very good winter league. This week he went 6-18 including the game winning rbi single against Kennedy Saturday night. Melky has an 8 game hit streak going. Totals -- 14 Gms, .333 (18-54), 6 RBI, 11 runs, 7 K--6 Walks, OBP .400, 1 stolen base.

Wilkins Arias (Aquilas) has been struggling in winter ball so far. Last Sunday (11-30) he pitched and retired only 1 man, while giving up a rbi double and walk. He was charged with 2 ER. Friday he improved. pitching 1 scoreless inning, picking up his 3rd hold. Totals -- 14 Gms, 8.1 IP, 14 ER, 13 hits, 12 K---7 walks.

Mexican League

Justin Christian (Mochlis) played his last game a week ago Sunday (11-30), going 1-2 with a single, walk, and stolen base. Totals -- .294 (42-143), 17 RBI, 22 runs, 3 HR, 7- 2B, 12 SB

Ramiro Pena ( Culican) went 3-13 for the week with a double and 3 runs scored. Totals -- .250 (16-64), 6 RBI, 7 runs, 1 HR, 3 doubles.

Walter Ibarra (Hermosillo) got only 1 start this week going 0-3, he also pinch-ran in 2 games and pinch hit ( 0-1) in another. Totals -- .200 (14-70), 2 RBI, 3 runs, 16 K--6 walks.

Venezuelan League

Francisco Cervelli ( Lara ) playing sparingly appeared in 1 game this week going 1-2 with a rbi single and strikeout. Totals -- .270 (10-37), 2 RBI, 8 runs, 1 HR, 9 K--7 walks.

Reegie Corona ( Maganelles ) being used mostly as a pinch hitter-pinch runner, pinch hit in 2 games this week. He went 0-1 with a walk and run scored. Totals -- .268 (11-56), 9 RBI, 11 runs, 1 HR, 5 2B, 6 K--4 walks.

NOTES: AA Trenton was named MInor League Team of the Year after winning their championship. Former SWB player Matt Carson was signed as a minor league free agent by the Oakland A's. (Stats - MLB.com)

Venezuelan League: Francisco Cervelli, Edwar Gonzalez and Carlos Mendoza are playing for Cardenales de Lara. Reegie Corona is on Navegantes del Magallanes. And Edgar Soto is on Aguilas del Zulia.
